Join us at The Newberry Museum with our guest speaker, Michael Hardy, as he presents “Feeding the Army of Northern Virginia” which will discuss what Civil War soldiers ate, how they got it, and the importance of food during the Civil War.
Michael Hardy is an award-winning author of twenty-six books, primarily focusing on North Carolina and Civil War history. He was the 2010 North Carolina Historian of the Year. Michael takes a "bottom up" approach to history, focusing on the lives and experiences of the common soldier and civilian during important events.
The talk will be held Saturday, August 3 at 2:00 pm on the main level of the museum.
Admission is FREE.
This presentation coincides with our current exhibit, The Toll of War. The Toll of War is a traveling exhibit from the National Museum of Civil War Medicine in Fredrick, Maryland.
